I explored the innovative furniture that derived from the Bauhaus as well the post-Bauhaus artists work inspired by the Weimar design institute. I was inspired by my trip to the Walter Gropius house in Lincoln, MA with my industrial design mother, where I was first exposed to the Bauhaus. This lead me to discovering a breadth of work by international designers such as Marcel Breuer and more, who used unconventional materials to reinvent the mass-production of home furniture. When I discovered that there was little-to-no representation from female and non-white male designers, I discovered a plethora of designs that came after the Bauhaus, pushing the same principles of form follows function and strategic minimalism.

With this in mind, I asked the question: With new innovations in the avant-garde furniture world,
how can a communication designer preserve the legacy of the Bauhaus, since its collapse,
to inspire future generations?

Thus, the creation of a new web platform was born! NÜHAUS is an archival web, interface that educates design enthusiasts about both the traditional Bauhaus designers, as well as the designers that came after, but followed the same principals. The logo was customized for the site, and inspired by Swiss-minimalism, both clean anplayful. The name of the site came from the idea that this solution is putting this plethora of furniture designers under a new roof, while following the same idea of resilient, functional, universal furniture.
